NNPC Inaugurates 20 Bed Capacity Health Facility In Yobe

The Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited, Shell Petroleum Development Company and joint venture partners have constructed and equipped a 20-bed capacity state-of-the-art primary healthcare facility in Ngelshenge village of Fune Local Government Area in Yobe state.

At the handing over and inauguration ceremony of the facility, the Group Managing Director of the NNPC Limited Dr Mele Kyari, said the gesture was part of the corporate social responsibility of the companies to assist victims of insurgency return to normal life

Mr Kyari whose address was presented virtually by the Manager External Affairs of the Upstream Investment Services Mr Momodu Asemokhai said, NNPC and its partners were ardent believers in impacting on the lives of all Nigerians and their environment hence the intervention.

Similarly, the Head of Community Relations of Shell Petroleum Development Company Mr IGO Weli in a good will message also presented virtually said the Joint Venture Partners have adopted a holistic approach targeting facilities, equipment resources and manpower to support communities ravaged by Boko Haram Insurgency in the North East and would continue to do so in order to cushion hardships being faced by the victims.

In her remarks, Prof. Sherri Adeosun, President of Relume Charitable Foundation who also made virtual presentation said within the last one year, the foundation, with the support of the JVP have trained over 250 health workers on nutrition and psychological first aid among others to support the communities in addition to conducting medical out reach where over two thousand families benefitted.

Also Yobe state Commissioner for Health Dr Lawan Gana who represented Yobe state governor at the event commended NNPC, SPDC and joint venture Partners for their continued support to the state.

Dr Lawan Gana pointed out that that the gesture was in line with Gov Mai Mala Buni’s plan to build a functional primary healthcare facilities in each the electoral wards of the state to healthcare services accessible to all.

The Executive Secretary Yobe State Primary Healthcare Management Board Dr Kundi Machina said Yobe state government has built 138 Primary Healthcare facilities.

The 20 bed capacity health facility consist of the male, female and children ward, delivery room and pre-delivery rooms among other state-of-the-art equipment.
