Nigeria Military Committed To Ending Insurgency – Army Chief

Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Farouq Yahaya has tasked troops of Operation Hadin Kai not to relent until insurgents are completely subdued.

General Yahaya gave the task while addressing officers of Operation Hadin Kai at Maimalari Cantonment Maiduguri.

The Army Chief had earlier visited troops in Baga town under Sector Three to assess the operation in the fringes of Lake Chad.

According to Lieutenant General Yahaya, his visit to Operation Hadin Kai is to interact with troops in the frontline and also appreciate their commitment and discipline in the counter insurgency operation.

“My message to them is that despite the successes that we have achieved, we must remain alert, vigilant and aggressive in what we do. The terrorist will try and cause havoc if we are complacent to us or to the civilians we provide security to. We must remain alert and vigilant and in accordance to our code of conduct and rules of engagements” General Yahaya stressed.

The Chief of Army Staff expressed satisfaction with the successes achieved in the Theatre of Operation Hadin Kai and other Theaters of Operation across the country assuring that the feat will be sustained.

On the 2023 general election, General Farouq Yahaya said the military will continue to support Nigeria Police and other security agencies to ensure a hitch free exercise.

He remarked that task of securing the country will not be achieved without the synergy and cooperation of other security agencies.

The Army Chief equally commend journalists for their professionalism and objective reportage of events in the Theatre.

The COAS later inaugurated some completed projects in Maimalari Cantonment, including a Maternity and Child Care Centre, Doctor’s Lodge and Theatre command’s Regimental Sergeant Major residence.
