Teenager Drowns In Kano Well

A 12 year-old teenager, Ya’u Suleiman, a student of Qur’anic school lost his life after accidentally slipped into a well at Rummawa Gabas in Ungogo Local Government Area.

This was contained in a statement, signed by the Public Relations Officer of Kano State Fire Service, PFS Saminu Yusif Abdullahi, and made available to Radio Nigeria in Kano.

Abdullahi said the incident occurred on November 4, 2022.

According to the statement, the agency received an emergency call at about 09:06a.m from Muhammad Musa that a teenager had accidentally fell into a well.

He maintained that a rescue team was immediately mobilized to the scene at about .09:15a.m.

The Public Relations Officer highlighted that, the teenager was retrieved from the well unconscious and later confirmed dead by health officials.

Saminu pointed out that the remains of Ya’u was handed over to village head of Rummawa Gabas, Alhaji Zaharaddini Sule-Ibrahim.

He said the cause of the incident was as a result of playing beside the well while fetching water.

The Public Relations Officer charged the public to maintain safety at all times by avoiding local swimming and sending underage children to fetch water from wells and streams.
