World Sight Day : 12,000 Patients To Receive Eye Treatments In Kano

Kano State Commissioner for Health Dr Aminu Ibrahim Tsanyawa , says the state government would sponsor eye intervention for over twelve thousand people in commemoration of world sight day.

Dr Aminu Ibrahim Tsanyawa stated this during a press briefing in commemoration of 2022 world sight day.

The commissioner represented by the Director General Hospital Management Board Dr Nasiru Alhassan Kabo , said during the last year’s event, over seventeen thousand people benefited from various eye intervention including surgery, glasses, eye drops and other medications in Kano.

He disclosed that during this year’s event which will commence on Thursday 27th October in Dawakin Tofa local government area , a similar programs will be conducted targeting over twelve thousands patients throughout the state.

“Kano state government has institutionalized primary eye care into primary health care system, a memorandum of understanding/has been signed with Makka Eye Hospi, stressing that modern health facilities were renovated and supplied with Opthalmology equipment.

Dr Aminu Ibrahim Tsanyawa further stated that the ophthalmology unit of Muhammad Abdullahi Wase Teaching Hospital has been renovated and equipped.

“specialise eye services has commenced, a comprehensive eye center has been established in Dawakin Tofa General hospital, also all the Four newly established emirate specialist Hospitals has comprehensive eye health unit.”

The health commissioner commended Kano state government for its efforts to improve the health sector.

He thanked traditional rulers, religious leaders and development partners for their support in improving the healthcare sector of the state.
