Kanwan Katsina and District Head of Ketare in Kankara Local Government Area, Alhaji Usman Bello Kankara, has urged journalists to utilize the sporting arena at the State Secretariat of the Nigerian Union of Journalists NUJ for development and leisure to keep fit and stay healthy.

The District Head started this when the Katsina State Television KTTV Chapel of the NUJ, presented him a trophy won at the recently-concluded Kanwa Katsina Table Tennis Competition.

Alh Bello Kankara, who is the Grand Patron of the NUJ KTTV Chapel, expressed happiness that the Table Tennis team of one of his guests came second at the competition he sponsored while advising them to redouble efforts towards taking the first position next time.

He also used the occasion to call on the media to collaborate with the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, in sensitising voters ahead of the 2023 general elections.

Earlier, Chairman of the NUJ KTTV chapel, Aminu Dandagoro, while presenting the trophy to their host, thanked the Kanwan Katsina for support and contribution to the chapel, Ketare Community and Katsina State.

It could be recalled that the Sports Writer Association of Nigeria, SWAN, Katsina State Council, in collaboration with the Kanwan Katsina, had organized a Table Tennis Competition among media organizations in the State, as part of activities to mark the ‘2022 Press Week’ and also celebrate Katsina State at 35.

Reports say Alh. Bello Kankara donated the trophy to the Katsina NUJ Council for the Table Tennis competition because of his love for the game during his secondary days at Government Secondary School Malumfashi.
