Police To Partner Journalists For Sustainable Peace In Jigawa

Nigeria Police Force has promised to join hands with members of Correspondent’s Chapel to promote peace in Jigawa State.

The state Commissioner of Police , Emmanuel Ekot Effiom stated this when he paid a familiarization visit to the chapel office, in Dutse the state capital.

The new Commissioner, who is the 22nd appointed to Jigawa state command said, members of the media particularly the practicing journalists like correspondents chapel that comprises national and international correspondents have a vital role to play in making peace at any level through balanced reports.

He further explained that, the aim of the visit was to seek for support, understanding and more mutual rapport between the command and correspondent’s for peaceful development in the state.

“I’m here to serve people of Jigawa state, and with media and other relevant stakeholders support, understanding and cooperation we will achieve the formidable targets, both in policy and information disseminations to make Jigawa more peaceful”

Speaking on level of their preparation towards forthcoming general elections, the CP said his command and INEC had already engaged the relevant stakeholders through sensitization and ensuring peaceful electioneering campaigns.

In his remarks, the Chairman Jigawa state correspondent’s chapel, Comrade Muhammad Zangina Kura assured more support and cooperation from members of the Chapel to the new Commissioner to deliver his duty of making Jigawa peaceful.
