Two Confirmed Killed In Niger Land Dispute

No fewer than two persons were reportedly killed following a land dispute between Kambari and Fulani in Salka , Magama local government council of Niger state.

The incident which occurred yesterday due to ownership claimed by the two sides led to the burning down of a Police station, Palace of the District Head and about thirty fulani huts.

It was gathered that the Fulanis had earlier bought a piece of land in the area some years ago which did not go down well with the villagers , leading to the clash between them.

Sources told Radio Nigeria that the argument started when the two sides visited the said land for settlement , and a Fulani man incidentally injured one of the other party with a cutlass hence the beginning of the dispute.

Secretary to the Niger State Government Ahmed Ibrahim Matane confirmed the incident and expressed displeasure over the development, noting that security has been deployed to the area to restore peace.

The Commissioner for Internal Security and Humanitarian Services, Mr Emmanuel Umar also corroborated the incident when contacted, saying that the state government is on top of the situation.
