KNSH Adopts Report On Persons With Disabilities Amendment Law 2022

Kano State House of Assembly has adopted the report on, the State Persons With Disabilities PWDs Amendment law 2022.

The adoption was a sequel to a report, by the chairman house standing committee on women’s affairs and social development, during the plenary session presided over by the speaker Alhaji Hamisu Ibrahim Chidari.

Presenting the report, the chairman of the committee who doubles as the deputy speaker, and member representing Kiru local government area, Alhaji Kabiru Hassan Dashi pointed out that, persons with disabilities amendment law 2022 would go a long way in paving way for formulating policies and guidelines for social development of PWDs.

Others are mitigating inequality, enlightening the public on the importance of people living with disabilities, and augmenting challenges in health, education, and other relevant aspects.

Alhaji Kabiru Hassan Dashi highlighted that the committee had scrutinized and recommended the adoption of the law

Deliberating on the report, members representing Sumaila, Takai, and Tudun Wada local government areas, Hamza Zubairu Massu, Musa Ali Kachako, and Abdullahi Iliyasu Yaryasa described the bill as apt due to the problems bedeviling PWDs in Kano.

They argued that the amendment would pave way for the establishment of a commission, to look into the affairs of people with disabilities in Kano state.

After careful deliberations, the House adopted the report.

In another development, the house received a letter from the executive, seeking the reappointment of Dahiru Abbas Kachako and Abdalla Abbas as members of the Kano State Independent Electoral Commission (KANSIEC).

Reading the letter, the speaker of the assembly, Alhaji Hamisu Ibrahim Chidari explains that the law stipulates that, names of members whose tenure has elapsed have to be sent to the house for screening and reappointment.

The Assembly mandated its standing committee on election matters, to scrutinize the nominees and submit its report within two days.

The house adjourned its sitting to the next day.
