Kaduna Police Command has pledged to provide a level playing field for all political parties and actors in line with extant laws in next year’s general elections.

State Commissioner of Police, Mr Yekini Adio Ayoku gave the assurance at a meeting with political party leaders and other stakeholders in Kaduna.

Mr Yekini Adio Ayoku explained that the police would be professional, unbiased and impartial in its dealings and engagement with all parties in the electoral process.

He warned against the use of non-state security outfits and bearing or use of weapons, and defacing of opponents posters and banners, stressing that pasting of banners on public buildings would not be condoned.

The police commissioner advocated the need for parties and candidates to base their campaigns on issues and ideas without bitterness.

Mr Ayoku requested all parties participating in the process to submit their campaign schedule for security to his office forty eight hours prior to such campaigns or rallies for proper harmonization to avoid clash or convergence of activities at same location.

He expressed the hope that with their support and other critical stakeholders, the forthcoming electoral process shall be peaceful, free, fair and hitch-free.
