Human Trafficking: DSS Rescues 27 Victims, Nabs Suspect

The Department of State Security Service Kano Command, has rescued and handed over to Joint Border Task Force Kano Command, twenty seven victims of human trafficking in Kano.

Kano Zonal Commander of the National Agency for Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons(NAPTIP), Barrister Abdullahi Babale made the disclosure to Radio Nigeria’s correspondent in Kano.

According to him, the suspected human trafficker was on his way to Libya through Kano, arrested by men of the DSS and handed over to the Joint Border Task Force on human trafficking.

The zonal commander pointed out that, the victims were recruited from Oyo, Osun, Kogi, Ondo, Ekiti, Lagos and Ogun states.

Barrister Babale highlighted that, the victims , twenty three females and four males between the ages of nineteen to forty, were recruited by the suspected trafficker for labour exploitation in Libya.

He stressed that, NAPTIP would reunite the victims with their families while the suspected human traffickers would be taken to court for proper action.

“The suspected victims and the suspected trafficker were set to travel to Libya for labor exploitation”

Radio Nigeria reports that,the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), Kano zonal command which comprises of Kano, Katsina, Jigawa,Bauchi and Kaduna, had rescued and reunited five hundred and thirty one victims of human trafficking with their families from January 2022 to date.
