NAWOJ Inaugurates New Officials In Kano

The Nigeria association of women Journalist (NAWOJ), Kano chapter has inaugurated new exco to steer the affairs of the association, for the next three years.

Speaking at the occasion,Kano state Commissioner of Information, Comrade Muhammad Garba pointed out the the state government would fully support NAWOJ in carrying out their duties effectively.

He described leadership as a serious challenge and urged them to work asidiously and bridge the gap for women journalists in Kano.

“The state government will assist and support the new exco in carrying out their duties successfully”

In his remarks, the chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) kano , Comrade Abbas Ibrahim charged the new officials to ensure transparency and accountability.

He urged them to carry everyone along for the development of the state and nation in general and desist from being intimidated.

In her acceptance speech, the new chairperson reaffirmed their dedication in moving NAWOJ Kano to greater heights.

She described gender based violence as a worrisome phenomenon in the society that needs to be addressed effectively,

“As journalists we must raise raise voice for the voiceless”

Radio Nigeria reports that new officials include:Hafsat Sani-Usman, from (ARTV), Aisha Ahmed, (NAN), Elizabeth Lamido (NTA), Rukkaiya Umar Radio Kano, Shamsiyya Ibrahim (NOA), Binta Kabir Usman Ministry of Information.
