Nasarawa State Government Directs Resumption Of Schools

Nasarawa State Government has approved the reopening of primary and  secondary schools in the state , forty nine days after shut down due to security threat.

     This is contained in a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education Mohammed Sami Bala and made available to Newsmen in Lafia, the state capital.

     According to the statement, in keeping with the 2022/2023 school academic Calendar, the school resumption for first term academic session for all public and private schools is Sunday, September 18 and Monday, 19 for boarding and day students respectively.

     The statement added that by this notice therefore, parents and guardians are to send their children and ward back to school as scheduled.

     It also directed that all outstanding promotion examinations that could not be concluded due to the shutting down of schools in July were to commence from Monday 19th of next week.

     The statement directed all Chief Evaluation Officers across the state to monitor and ensure compliance with the directive by the government.

     It also used the medium to assure the public, especially parents that security has been beefed up in schools to ensure the safety of students and teachers.

     Our Correspondent in Lafia, report that the State Commissioner for education had on July 27, 2022 announced the close down of schools in the state as preventive measures due to security threat in schools at the Federal Capital Territory FCT, Abuja.
