Kano state house of assembly has passed Kano road and traffic agency amendment law 2021.

The law scaled second reading, and deliberated in the committee of the whole house during today’s plenary session, presided over by the speaker Hamisu Ibrahim Chidari.

The passage was sequel to a motion by the majority leader, Alhaji Labaran Abdul Madari supported by the lawmakers.

Speaking to newsmen shortly after plenary, the majority leader explained that the law was established in 2012, which necessitated the amendment to pave way for upgrade and inclusion of some sections.

He highlighted that, initially the law has no provisions for laws on tricycles, which is now added to accommodate and guide the owners and drivers of the vehicles.

Alhaji Labaran Abdul Madari maintained that, defaulters would be fined by special courts if found guilty of violating traffic rules and regulations.

In a similar development the house had set up a committee to investigate the alleged building of shops at Chiranchi special school.

Mover of the motion, and member representing Kumbotso local government area, Alhaji Mudassir Zawaciki, argued that building of shops at the school premises is unethical and will expose students to untold hardship.

He however, stressed that the school lacks convenience as the existing toilets are dilapidated and needed urgent attention.

After careful deliberations the house constituted an adhoc committee to investigate and report within few weeks for proper legislative action.

The house adjourned its sitting to Monday 26th September 2022.
