Hisbah Intensifies Campaign To Curtail Fraud, Street Begging

Kano state hisbah board says it has intensified efforts, towards mitigating fraudulent activities by traders across the forty four local government areas in the state.

The Deputy Commander General in charge of operations, Malam Shehu Tasi’u Ishaq made the disclosure during an exclusive interview with Radio Nigeria’s correspondent in Kano.

According to him , as an agency saddled with responsibilities of preventing what is wrong, hisbah corps had visited markets to enlighten traders on dangers of selling fake and adulterated products, weighing with unbalanced scale, mixing of products with water, and other chemicals to increase quantity among others.

Malam Shehu Tasi’u stressed that, islam forbids such acts and anyone found guilty would face the wrath of the law.

The deputy commander charged traders to be honest and avoid any act capable of tarnishing their image and integrity.

On the success achieved in curtailing street begging, the DCG highlighted that Kano state hisbah board had succeeded in evacuating over 1,500 street beggars in the last few days.

He noted that, out of those recently apprehended is a middle aged mother of three who put to bed on the street and lost two of the babies to unknown persons.

Malam Shehu, said the board had commenced investigation to unravel the mystery behind the disappearance of the two children for proper action.

He however, pointed out that the board, had succeeded in strengthening the bond, between some of the beggars and their families, who claimed that lack of means for survival pushed them into the act.

Some of those apprehended who spoke to Radio Nigeria, pleaded for leniency and promised to stay at home after being repatriated.
