Human Trafficking : NIS Rescues 13 Year Old Girl In Kebbi

The Kebbi State Command of the Nigeria Immigration Service, has rescued and handed over a thirteen year old girl Temitope Marvellous to the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons NAPTIP Sokoto office.

Briefing newsmen while handing over the victim, the State Comptroller of Immigration Rabi Bashir Nuhu, said that, the girl was intercepted at Koko border post by Immigration border patrol team in a commercial bus coming from Ogun state to Sokoto through Kebbi state.

Comptroller Rabi Nuhu, said after interrogation, they found out that, the said victim was a thirteen year old girl and gave out some contacts in Libya which were very suspicious.

“All the contacts were for someone from Libya which made the officers to have the believe that this girl was being trafficked”.

According to Comptroller Nuhu, the girl claimed that, she is going to Libya as a house help, which is not true but suspected to be used for prostitution or organ harvest.

Comptroller Nuhu assured that the agency would not fold its hands seeing people committing such crimes, as it will arrest and prosecute anyone found in such act.

The NAPTIP representative Sokoto office, Rilwan Mohammed Buhari, assured that, the agency would investigate and unite the victim with her family.

The victim, Temitope Marvellous, told Radio Nigeria that, her grand mother whom she lives with sent her to Sokoto as a house help.
