Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola has charged personnel of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps to ensure the total extermination of criminal elements that constitute security threat to the country’s sovereignty.

He gave the charge during the inauguration of 93- operational vehicles at the NSCDC National Headquarters in Abuja.

The Minister maintained that federal government was committed to the welfare and training of security personnel, noting that billions of naira has also been spent on armament and weaponry for the corps.

He urged them to be steadfast in the discharge of their duty and promote synergy with other sister agencies for better training.

Mr. Aregbesola also maintained that the Ministry of Interior will continue to strengthen the capacity of its service members in tackling kidnapping, vandalism and oil bunkering.

The Commandant General, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Dr. Abubakar Audi who noted the important role of mobility in stemming insecurity, said over 300 vandals and oil thieves have so far been arrested with over 50 prosecutions obtained in a competent court of jurisdiction.

He assured Nigerians of the readiness of the corps to surmount the numerous security challenges facing the country and charged the personnel not to be caught in the web of indiscipline as the corps has zero tolerance for corps who break such rules.

Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior, Dr. Shuiab Belgore commended the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari in the training and the provision of equipment to the corps.

Highpoint of the commissioning was the handing over of keys of the vehicle to the Commandant General.

There were also goodwill messages from representatives of the Chief of Army staff, Navy, the Inspector General of Police, Nigerian Correctional service and the Nigeria Immigration service.
