Religious Leaders in Niger Urged to Promote Unity

Religious leaders in Niger state have been Advised to continue to promote interfaith unity and to push for the betterment of Nigeria in the forthcoming general elections.

Niger state Governor Alh Abubakar Sani Bello gave the advice at the formal inauguration of new Chairman of Christian Association of Nigeria CAN Niger State Chapter, Most Reverend Bulus Dauwa Yohanna and other executive members in Minna.

Reepresented by the Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice, Barrister Nasara Danmallam Governor Abubakar Sani Bello said his administration will continue to work closely with religious leaders in the state to promote unity of purpose and religious tolerance amongst adherents of two major religion Islam and Christianity.

“We have been working closely with the two major religions in the State and we will continue to sustain that relationship for maximum benefits”.

Alh Abubakar Sani Bello while assuring the new leadership of robust relationship, also charged them to continue to promote interfaith unity and continue to push for the betterment of Nigerian and Nigeria.

In his acceptance speech, state Chairman of CAN Most Reverend Bulus Yohanna asked Christian leaders to encourage their members to collect their Permanent Voters Card PVCs stressing that we have all registered, now it is the time to collect the PVCs so that we can all exercise our franchise.

According to him it is time to vote credible leaders, if we must enjoy peace and tranquility in our state, we must all be ready to vote in credible leaders in various elective positions to promote rapid development of Nigeria.

Most Reverend Yohanna further explained that though CAN is non-partisan, it is willing and ready to partner with all leaders and other relevant stakeholders towards achieving unity, peace, and progress of Niger state and Nigeria.

The North Central CAN Chairman Rev Israel Akanji, was represented by the North Central Secretary, Rev Dr Danjuma Byang inaugurated the State Chairman alongside the new executives- Ezekiel Ojo, Deputy Chairman; Pastor Raphael Opawoye, Secretary; Very Reverend Goodseed Ekelema, Assistant Secretary and Oyashowo Oyeye Treasurer.
