Syndicate Of Notorious Burglars Apprehended By NSCDC In Jigawa

The Jigawa state command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps NSCDC says it has apprehended Ali Ya’u and five others between the ages of eighteen to twenty four in Hadejia local government area on a suspected case of burglary, trespass, criminal conspiracy, theft and receiving stolen property.

The Public Relations Officer of the command, CSC Adamu Shehu disclosed this to Radio Nigeria in Dutse.

According to him, the suspects include Abubakar Isa of Agumau Quarters, Mohammed Musa of Yayari Quarters and  Haruna Shuaibu of Agumau Quarters.

Others include Ibrahim Yusuf of Mafucin Sarki Quarters and Tafida Ibrahim  of Agumau Quarters, all in Hadejia local government area of the state.

CSC Adamu Shehu further explained that, Ali Ya’u was arrested on Thursday, 18th of August, 2022 in the afternoon while eating from a local food vendor, while the five others were picked within the week on separate dates and at different locations. 

He said their arrests was prompted upon receiving complaint from one Muhammad Sani Lawal aka Master, that his shop located at Agumau Quarters was burgled.

The complainant gave list of items stolen which include, one million one hundred naira cash, seven laptop computers of different models valued at four hundred and ten thousand naira, POS teminal at twenty five thousand naira and  microsoft camera valued twenty five thousand naira.

He said other items include biometric machine valued at 230,000 naira, NIMC license at 360,000 naira, two hundred pieces of fairly used mobile phones valued at 985,000 naira.

He said the gadgets worth two million three hundred and thirty five  thousand naira were stolen, plus 1,100,000 million naira cash. 

Adamu Shehu added that, the shop owner has a video surveillance camera CCTV mounted in the shop that helped in identifying the suspects which eventually led to their arrests. 

He pointed out that, at the time of their arrest, they were in possession of two laptop computers and three used GSM mobile phones. 

According to the suspects, the rest of the stolen property are with Dan Bello who is now at large. 

He said investigation revealed that Ali Ya’u and one Dan Bello who is on the run, of Fagge Quarters in kano state used hammer and broke the heavily padlocked door of the shop and stole the listed items including the money. 

He added that, the five others who happened to be roommates of the suspected burglars, partook in sharing the money and stolen items, noting that, some were given cash while others handsets and computers. 

Similarly, CSC Adamu Shehu said one Sadiq Abubakar aged twenty years of Yankoli Quarters in Hadejia was arrested on a suspected case of trespass and theft.

He said, at the time of his arrest, he was in possession of 6kg and 3kg gas cylinders, valued at 20,000 naira and a android phone valued at 18,000 naira.

The PRO said, upon investigation, it was discovered that the suspect jumped into one Zubairu Sule’s residence at Fanisau Quarters, Hadejia local government area  and stole the said items. 

He said both suspects have confessed to the crime and will be charged to court of competent jurisdiction.
