Taraba State government has appealed to the Federal government to reimburse the state with funds it used in the execution of federal roads in the state.

Commissioner for Works Mr. Irimiya Hammanjulde made the appeal while speaking to newsmen in Jalingo.

Hammanjulde said that the funds when reimbursed, would be used in the completion of the ongoing road projects and as well execute other projects in the state.

He listed some of the federal roads been constructed to include the Jalingo-Kona phase two road, Bali Serti 115 km road, Takum Katsina Ala road, the Takum Chanchanji road, and Mararaban Baissa-Abong 82 km road.

He also mentioned the NYSC – Kpantinapu 18 km road, the extension of the Nukkai bridge as well as six pedestrian bridges, and a fly over among many others.

He explained that the government intended to construct more street roads within the Jalingo metropolis.

According to him, Governor Darius Ishaku has a plan to link the city by the construction of more street roads but the challenge has been the lack of resources.

He faulted the re – award of contract for the construction of the Bali_Serti-Gembu road.

Hammanjulde noted that the Taraba state government had already completed the construction of the Bali Serti 115 km road.

He recalled that the government had raised an alarm about the action, advising the Federal government to continue with the Serti Gembu road project.

“As you all know, the Federal government re-awarded the Bali Serti Gembu road project which had been constructed by the state government. We have already completed the project and it’s already been put to use”.

“The governor had appealed to the federal government to rather refund funds that had been used to execute federal roads in the state.

“With the refund, the state can use it to complete its ongoing road projects and execute other life-touching projects.

Mr. Irimiya Hammanjulde, however, revealed that the federal government had reimbursed some of the money to the state government, urging them to refund the rest.
