Customs Intercepts Cannabis, Other Contrabands Worth Over N61M In Kebbi

Nigerian Customs Service, Kebbi area command has seized 389 laptop size wraps of cannabis sativa and other contraband worth over Sixty one point five million naira during anti-smuggling operations.

The Comptroller, Kebbi Area Command, Comptroller Joseph Attah made the disclosure during the monthly media briefing at the command headquarters in birnin kebbi.

Comptroller Attah, said other items seized include 25 jerricans of petrol, 75 bags of foreign fertilizer, 22 bags of foreign rice, 54 bags of sugar, 8 out boat engines, 128 bales of second hand clothing and one Toyota Corolla second hand vehicle with a duty paid value of over 61.5 million naira.

The comptroller while handing over the 389 wraps of Cannabis sativa to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency NDLEA, in the state said, the command remained resolute in bringing transborder criminals to their knees and commended traditional rulers for their role in assisting the command.

In the area of revenue generation, the Comptroller maintained that, for the month of August, it stood at over 38.198 million naira as revenue accrued by the Command.

Responding shortly after recieving the items, the Commander of NDLEA Kebbi state, Sule Usman, commended the interagency collaboration.

He therefore urged parents to always check the activities of their wards not to become victims of drug abuse.
