Kwari Flooding : KNHA Constitutes Committee To Curtail Reoccurrence

Kano State House Of Assembly has constituted an adhoc committee to investigate and find lasting solution to flooding at Kantin Kwari market and other parts of the state.

This was sequel to a motion of urgent public importance sponsored by member representing Fagge local government area, Alhaji Tukur Muhammad, during plenary session presided over by the speaker, Hamisu Ibrahim Chidari.

Members representing Warawa, Kano municipal, Dambatta, Dawakin Tofa, supported the motion and called for immediate action on flooding across the forty four local government areas.

After careful deliberations the house called on the state government to expedite action on possible assistance by state government and forty four local government councils and charged Kano residents to desist from indiscriminate dumping of refuse to mitigate flooding and other environmental hazards.

Similarly, the house has passed the Kano state permissible weight and weigh bridge bill 2022.

This followed a motion by majority leader and member representing Warawa local government area Alhaji Labaran Abdul Madari supported by the lawmakers.

Speaking to newsmen shortly after today’s sitting, Alhaji Labaran Abdul Madari explained that, the passage of the bill would go a long way in preserving and maintaining state roads.

Similarly the house had screened and confirmed Alhaji Kabiru Muhammad as commissioner and member of Kano state executive council.

The nomination of Kabiru was contained in a letter from the executive to the legislative seeking its approval to appoint him as a commissioner.

The house adjourned its sitting to Monday 5th September, 2022.
