KNSG Distributes Commodities , Equipment To Health Facilities

As part of efforts to improve service delivery, Kano state government has commenced distribution of health commodities to forty four secondary health care facilities and one hundred and thirty one primary health care centers across the state.

Kano state commissioner for health, Dr. Aminu Ibrahim Tsanyawa made the indication while flagging off the distribution of coalition against (CA), COVID commodities, held at Kano State Drugs and Medical Consumables Supply Agency (DMCSA).

Dr. Aminu, who was represented by permanent secretary of the ministry, Hajiya Amina Aliyu Musa said the commodities were evacuated from COVID 19 isolation centers due to the decline in cases.

He explained that, the head of logistics subcommittee who doubles as the Director General DMCSA, Hisham Imamudeen was directed to redistribute the commodities to primary and secondary health centres to improve health care delivery.

Dr. Aminu Tsanyawa maintained that priority was given to facilities at the five emirate councils, state ministry of health and it’ms agencies.

“The state made tremendous efforts to curve the spread of COVID 19 and was appraised by the DG NCDC as the second best state”.

Earlier in his welcome address, Director General Kano state Drugs and Medical Consumables Supply Agency, Mr. Hisham Imamudeen noted that the medical equipment would go a long way in boosting productivity of health facilities.

He stressed that, the state government was committed to effective health care delivery through policies and programs.

Pharmacist Hisham debunked rumors circulating, that COVID 19 commodities and consumables were auctioned by the state government.

He commended staff of DMCSA for their dedication despite security challenges encountered during the evacuation of commodities from isolation centers.

“The commodities were provided by the state government with support from donor agencies and NGOs”.

Speaking on behalf of all secondary health facilities, Chief Medical Director, Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital, Dr. Hussaini Muhammad promised appropriate utilization of the equipment.

Murtala Muhammad specialist hospital, Muhammadu Buhari Specialist Hospital, Bichi General Hospital and Gwagwarwa Primary Healthcare Centre were part of the beneficiaries.

Radio Nigeria reports that items distributed include PPEs, biohazard bags, suction devices, drip stands and electronic devices among others.
