At least thirty thousand poor and vulnerable people are to benefit N30,000 naira each under the Hydroelectric Power Producing Area Development Commission, (HYPPADEC) social intervention programme to alleviate their sufferings.
The Managing Director of the Commission, Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq Yelwa made the disclosure while speaking at the flag – off of a 570 meter drainages/Dyke’s/erosion control at Patigi general Hospital in Patigi local government area of Kwara state.
According to him, the disbursement of the parlliatives will be carried out in collaboration with all the state government in the HYPPADEC benefiting state.
Alhaji Sadiq-Yelwa said the funds will be disbursed to the beneficiaries to support them.
He explained that the Commission will continue to attend to the hydrological and socio economic challenges of the people as contained in the Act that establish it.
Alhaji Sadiq-Yelwa noted that the construction of drainages /Dyke’s and erosion control in Patigi which is expected to gulp N212 million naira will be completed in good time.
He appealed to the residents of the benefiting community to protect the project against vandalisation.
In his address, governor of Kwara state, AbdulRahman AbdulRazq , represented by his deputy ,Mr Kayode Alabi commended the Commission for collaborating with the state government in alleviating the suffering of the people.
In his remark ,the Etsu Patigi, Alhaji Ibrahim Umar Bologi , said the intervention by the Commission will prevent the general hospital and other infrastructures in the area from total collapse.
