KNHA Approves Appointment Of Nine Commissioners

Kano State House of Assembly has screened and confirmed the appointment of nine Commissioners nominated by Governor Abdullahi Ganduje.

The screening was sequel to a letter received by the house last week where the names of eight nominees was submitted, while the name of Dr. Ali Burum Burum was submitted the next day.

During today’s plenary session, presided over by the speaker Engineer Hamisu Ibrahim-Chidari, the house announced the receipt of additional nominee in person of Dr. Aminu Ibrahim Tsanyawa.

The speaker noted that an invitation has been sent to Dr Aminu Ibrahim-Tsanyawa to appear before the house on Tuesday Aug.23, for screening.

The new commissioners include: Ibrahim Dan’azumi, Abdulhalim Abdullahi, Lamin Sani-Zawiyya,Ya’u Abdullahi-Yan’shana, Garba Yusuf Abubakar, Dr. Yusuf Jibirin.

Others are Adamu Fanda, Saleh Kausami, and Dr Ali Burum Burum

The nine nominees were scrutinized and confirmed as commissioners, and members of Kano state executive council after careful deliberations by the lawmakers.

However, some of the nominees who were former Speakers and those who served as commissioners were given only few minutes to explain their previous achievements.

Speaking on behalf of the new commissioners, Dr Ali Burum-Burum, commended the house for the smooth conduct of the exercise

” I will do my best to see that i assist the Executive Governor,Dr Abdullahi Ganduje, to achieve his aims and aspirations by lifting Kano to a greater high”

Radio Nigeria reports that Kano state governor Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje had on August 15th, sent a nomination letter to Kano state house of assembly seeking its approval to screen and confirm eight people as commissioners, while two names were added to the list before the date of the screening.

Meanwhile, the house has mandated its House standing Committee on Women Affairs to report back to the house within two weeks for further legislative action on amendment of persons with disability (PWD) law 2018.

Earlier, the Majority Leader of the house, representing, Alhaji Labaran Abdul-Madari,noted that if passed, PWD law would improve service delivery and protect the rights of people living with disabilities.

“The bill will reduce inequality between able persons and those with special needs for social inclusion, enhancing investment,good health and education.
