Federal government says it is gradually lifting one hundred million Nigerians out of poverty as well as reducing National poverty incident level especially in rural areas across the country.

The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs Disaster Management and Social Development, Hajiya Sadiya Umar Farouk stated this while flagging off the distribution of Federal Government Cash grant to vulnerable groups in Dutse, the  Jigawa state capital.

She explained that the largest Social Investment Programme NSIP in Africa established in 2016 by the Buhari-led administration was gradually lifting millions of Nigerians out of poverty in the country.

According to her, the Programme was established to tackle the National poverty level averaging 70% when the present administration came on board with programmes like school feeding, trader money, market money, conditional cash transfer as well as N-Power among others.

Hajiya Sadiya Umar Farouk said the disbursement of twenty thousand naira cash grant to five thousand vulnerable groups in Jigawa state was meant to change the life of the beneficiaries who were expected to engage in small businesses that would impact their lives.

In a remark, Governor Badaru Abubakar of Jigawa state said the National Social investment programme was a life changing opportunity to the people of the state. 

He promised to assist in monitoring and evaluating the programme to fully harness it’s potentials.

Radio Nigeria reports that, there were presentation by stakeholders as well as launching of the grant disbursement, presentation of appointment letters to independent monitors and payment of digitized beneficiaries of cash transfer.
