Sultan Of Sokoto Advocates Free Education In Nigeria

His Eminence, the Sultan of Sokoto Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III has commissioned Five hundred and Nine students who graduated from an Islamic Institute in Kaura Namoda, Zamfara State.

During the graduation ceremony which took place in Kaura Namoda, the Sultan said, Nigerians deserves free Education considering the status of the country’s economy.

Sultan Sa’ad who was responding to a request from the school management team to increase the monthly school fees from One hundred to Three hundred Naira (N100 to N300) being the proprietor of the institute said, from now henceforth, he cancelled the school fees and pledged to be taking care of the teachers monthly allowances as well as the cost of running the school.

According to him, most of the parents could not afford to pay the N100 monthly, as such instead of increasing the school fees it will better to scrap it and therefore called on government and other philanthropist to support students to pursue education free.

He donated clothing materials, cash and copies of the Holy Qur’an to each of the graduands.

Earlier, the Emir of Kaura Namoda, Alhaji Sanusi Muhammad Ahmad Asha who oversees the affairs of the school on behalf of the Sultanate expressed gratitude to the Sultan for his commitments to serve humanity and philanthropy.

The 509 students who read verses of the holy Qur’an and some chapters of Hadith during the ceremony were graduates of 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021 respectively.
