Another Five Abducted Abuja-Kaduna Train Victims Regain Freedom

A member of the negotiating team, Tukur Mamu says five more victims of Abuja-Kaduna train kidnapped victims regained their freedom today.

He gave the names of the five released hostages as Professor Mustapha Umar Imam a medical doctor at Usman Dan Fodio University Teaching Hospital, Sokoto, Akibu Lawal, Abubakar Ahmed Rufai Mukthar Shu’aibu and Sidi Aminu Sharif.

Tukur Mamu said he played a prominent role in the release of the train victims, then he backed out due to threats to his life, personal integrity and lack of support from the Federal Government.

It is however not clear if any money was paid to the terrorists to release their abducted victims.

Tukur Mamu explained that with the release of the five persons today another thirty four victims are still being held in the forest.

The son of a former military Governor of Kano State, Idris Garba, his wife and children and many others are reportedly among those still being held.
