Court Adjourns Case Of A Man Who Married His Granddaughter In Zamfara

A Sharia Court sitting in Tsafe local government area of Zamfara State has adjourned a case of a man Married to his granddaughter to Monday 25th July 2022.

The man a 47-years old identified as Alhaji Musa in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State has refused to divorce the granddaughter, which he married 23 years ago.

Radio Nigeria also reports that, the wife identified as Wasila Isah Tsafe aged 37, had given birth to eight children in the 23-year-old marriage.

The case was brought to Tsafe Sharia Court by the Hisba Commission through their lawyer, Barrister Sani Muhammad while the accused persons were represented at the court by their counsel Barrister Ayuba Abdullahi

After heated arguments by the counsels of the accused, Barrister Ayuba Abdullahi urged the dependent to give a copy of the investigation conducted so far and the plaintiff’s counsel also quoted verses from the Holy Quran to support his argument and notify the court that the marriage is illegal.

The judged, Justice Mahe after hearing from both sites, adjourned the case to Monday 25th July, 2022.

It could be recalled that, Tsafe Emirate Council had summoned community leaders and Islamic scholars to investigate the matter, and after the investigation, it was found out that the marriage was illegal, but Alhaji Musa Tsafe insisted to continue living with his wife Wasila as husband and wife.
