Kano School Of Health Commences 10 Postgraduate Courses In Affiliation With Universities

The Provost of Kano state college of health sciences and technology (school of hygiene), Dr. Bashir Bala Getso says the institution has commenced 10 post graduate courses in affiliation with some Nigerian universities.

Dr. Bashir made the disclosure during an exclusive interview with Radio Nigeria’s correspondent in Kano.

According to him, preparations were in top gear to incorporate some additional postgraduate and undergraduate courses in collaboration with Kano state university of technology Wudil and other universities.

The Provost maintained that, the criteria for admission into post graduate programs at the college includes degree from related discipline, higher national diploma, and NYSC exemption or discharge certificate among others.

“Some of the programs are postgraduate diploma in community health, health education, monitoring and evaluation, environmental health and health information management”.

Dr. Bashir explained that over sixteen academic staff of the institution are currently undergoing Phd, to further strengthen the educational standard of the school.

He said the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), had successfully accredited some courses, saying that the school of hygiene had also submitted a proposal for the full accreditation of two courses and additional resource inspection of three departments.

Dr. Bashir pointed out that the approval for a national diploma in public health technology had been granted by the NBTE, which paved way for the college to be the first to train students in such courses in the country.

“Part time post graduate courses have been elongated according to NBTE policy”.

The provost maintained that both academic and non academic staff of the school were working asidiously to inculcate good moral values to students.

He commended the state government for it’s commitment in providing learning and instructional materials to accommodate the increasing number of students.

Dr. Bashir charged philanthropists and wealthy individuals to contribute their quota to the development of the health institution.

“Solar supply and more space for school expansion”.

Radio Nigeria reports that, Kano state college of health sciences and technology, popularly known as school of Hygiene, is one of the oldest Health Institution in the Country established in 1932 by the Colonial Masters under the governing body known as the Royal Society of Health (RSH) London.
