A pilgrim from Sokoto State, Nura Mallam has returned a pouch containing about $700 BTA belonging to a Kaduna State pilgrim in Madina.

According to Hajj Reporters, Nura Mallam said he found the pouch within Nigerian pilgrims’ accommodation in Madina and decided to return it to the Public Relation officer of Sokoto State pilgrim’s board to locate the owner of the waist purse.

” I just came down from the elevator when I found the bag on the floor, then picked it up and headed straight to the PRO of our state to hand over the bag in other to find the owner.”

“We were given sensitization from home by our officials, and that was why when I found this bag I decided to hand it over to our PRO,” he explained.

When asked if he regretted surrendering the money, the good Samaritan said he was happy that he handed over the money to the owner.

The Coordinator of  Sokoto State Pilgrims Welfare Board in Madina, Alhaji Nura Malami said Sokoto state are very humble and law-abiding citizens therefore what happened is not a surprise to him because he already knows what they instilled in their pilgrims.

The money was handed over to NAHCON’s Madina Coordinator, Alhaji Ibrahim Mahmud for onward delivery to the owner who has departed Madina for Makkah.

In his response, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris thanked the good Samaritan for his outstanding conduct and promised to reach the Kaduna State officials.

He urged the pilgrims to always handle their money and valuables with care, adding that “if one loses his money in Hajj he is going to be stranded.”
