National Girl Guides Association Take’s Voter Registration Campaign to Hard to Reach Areas in 5 LGAs of Kaduna State.

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC has appeal to Nigerians of voting age who are yet to register to do so before the end of this month to avoid being disenfranchised.

The INEC Registration Area Manager for Kajuru, Mrs. Evelyn York made the call at the flag off campaign for Continuous Voter Registration for women and young girls organized by the Nigeria Girl Guides Association in Kaduna

She explained that unlike before it is not possible for anyone to vote without the voter card hence the need for adequate sensitization as the process has been made more flexible for the registration and collection of the voter cards

In her speech, the State Commissioner for Nigeria Girl Guides Association, Mrs. Nasara Danmaida Ifere lamented the low turn out of young Girls for the voter Registration despite the opportunity provided.

According to her, the Association in collaboration with United Nations Women, SIDA and the INEC has dispatched registration teams to communities including hard to reach areas in Kajuru, Chikun, Igabi, Kaduna North and Kaduna South Local Government Areas to capture particularly young Girls and women in the voter register.

Mrs. Nasara Danmaida Ifere stated that voter registration is a right and not a privileged to enable people of voting age to elect leaders of their choice.

Also present at the event were National president of Parent Teachers Association Mallam Haruna Danjuma, representatives of Jami’ar Matan Arewa, Women Mentioning Forum, and many other women organization who commented the initiative and pledged support to ensure success is achieved.
