Service Chiefs Celebrate Sallah With Frontline Troops

The Service Chiefs have reiterated their commitment to completely defeat insurgency and terrorism in the country. 

Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Farouq Yahaya and the Chief of Air Staff Air Marshal Isiaka Amao made the commitment at a combined Sallah luncheon with troops of Operation Hadin Kai at the Airforce Base in Maiduguri. 

The Chief of Army Staff acknowledged that the country is faced with multitude of security challenges, however assured that the troops are committed to ending all forms of criminality particularly in the North East and North West.

“We should all be ruthless with the terrorists, we should be ruthless with the bandits, ruthless with the kidnappers and ruthless with all violent criminals. The sallah gift i expect from our gallant troops is the neutralisation of these enemies of the state and capture and retrieval of their weapons in order to make our dear country safer for the law abiding citizens and good people of Nigeria ” General Yahaya said.

Also Chief of the Air Staff Air Marshal Isiaka Amao noted that huge success have been recorded in the counter insurgency and counter terrorism operation.

According to him, these successes would not have been recorded without the synergy between the Services and other security agencies. 

Air Marshal Amao also announced that the Nigerian Airforce would soon take delivery of additional Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance ISR platforms, unmanned aerial vehicles, helicopter gunships and aircraft to sustain the successes so far achieved. 

“Let us all continue to work together to ensure that we maintain the highest level of vigilance and combat readiness to guarantee improved security during the period and beyond. In this regard, the Nigerian Airforce remain committed towards providing the Air component with the necessary equipment in support of the joint operation to ensure peace in the region” Air Marshal Amao remarked. 

Borno state Deputy Governor Alhaji Umar Kadafur commended the armed forces and other security agencies for restoring peace to the state, urging them to sustain the momentum.
