Eid-el-fitr : Eid Prayers Observed Peacefully In Maiduguri

The eid prayers have been observed peacefully amidst partial restriction of vehicular movement in Maiduguri, the Borno state capital. 

Correspondent Dauda Iliya reports that thousand of muslim faithful converged on various eid grounds across the metropolis to observe the prayers which signify the end of the month-long Ramadan fast.

The two unit prayers at Ramat Square was led by the Imam Idaini of Borno, Shettima Mamman Saleh with the state Deputy Governor Alhaji Umar Kadafur, former Governor Senator Kashim Shettima and other government functionaries in attendance. 

In a sermon shortly after the prayers, the Imam Idaini admonished muslims to continue with all the virtuous deeds performed during Ramadan. 

He also cautioned faithful against unrighteous acts capable of attracting the wrath of Almighty Allah.

Imam Saleh highlighted the significance of the charity, that is zakatul fitr which is compulsory on every muslim at the end of the fast.

He called on well spirited individuals and philanthropists to continue to support the less privileged particularly at this period of economic downtown. 

The Imam Idaini prayed for lasting peace in the state and entire country and for a hitch free 2023 elections. 

In a sallah message, Borno state Deputy Governor Alhaji Umar Kadafur thanked God Almighty for witnessing the day.

The Deputy Governor also called on politicians and their supporters not to take the forthcoming elections as a do or die affair.
