‘No Individual Will Destabilize Nigeria’-President Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari has given the assurance that no individual or group will be allowed to destabilise the country.

The President urged Nigerians to support the administration’s efforts at restoring peace by resisting the advances of trouble makers.

The Governors

He wondered how people would allow themselves to be manipulated to destabilise their own country.

President Buhari made the statement in Abuja at an Iftar dinner (breaking of the day’s Ramadan Fast) with Governors, Ministers, and Heads of Government Agencies.

The President who thanked the Governors and Ministers for honouring his invitation to break the Ramadan fast together, expressed confidence that in spite of the current security challenges, the country would prosper.

On the forthcoming general elections, the President affirmed that being a beneficiary of free, fair and credible elections, the introduction of technology and the Permanent Voters Card would make it impossible for anyone to claim millions of votes again in the country.

Earlier, the Chairman, Nigeria Governors Forum and Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, commended President Buhari for demonstrating resilience and determination at a crucial period in Nigeria’s history.

Acknowledging the tirelessness of the President in rebuilding a virile nation, the Governor stressed that Nigeria had a leader who was not distracted by momentary challenges, but had continued to commit to the renewal of the nation, adding that we, Governors and government functionaries are equally dedicated to building a better Nigeria, noting that this year’s Holy month of Ramadan coincided with the just concluded Christian Lenten period.

Governor Fayemi said it harboured enormous spiritual value on the benefits of renewal, sacrifice, almsgiving, forgiveness, and healing for the individual, as well as the nation.
