Sokoto To Establish Gigantic Poultry Feeds Factory

Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of Sokoto state says his administration is set to established a giant poultry feeds factory and hatchery that would be producing over 120,000 days old chicks.

The governor stated this at a one day training exercise on biosecurity and safety rudiments of poultry farming,
held in the state.

Represented by Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Sai’du Umar, said preparations have reached advance level to established the factory in a bit to facilitating the growing poultry business in the state.

Speaking at the training, the state Commissioner for Animals Health and Fishery development, Professor Abdulkadir Junaidu said the training was organised following the recent outbreak of Avian Influenza in the country.

He disclosed that twenty seven States have been affected by the Avian Influenza with eighty five local governments currently battling with the disease across the country.

Professor Abdulkadir Junaidu noted that although Sokoto state is not affected by the bird flu, the state needs to take necessary measures to prevent the state from the virus, considering the economic implications of the Avian Influenza.

The Commissioner explained that already, the state Ministry of Animals Health embarked on disinfection exercise across the state to forestall any outbreak in the state.

He called on the poultry farmers to immediately report any sign of infection to enable the ministry take immediate response for sustainable development.
