Remit All Excess Funds To State Treasury – KNHA

Kano state house of assembly has recommended the refund of all excess funds to the state treasury by ministries, departments and agencies within two months.

The recommendation was sequel to a report presentation by chairman house standing committee on public accounts (PAC),Salisu Ibrahim Muhammad during plenary session presided over by the speaker Alhaji Hamisu Ibrahim Chidari.

The report in respect of Kano state audited accounts for the financial year 2015,mapped out eight recommendation including the need for all government ministries, departments and agencies, to submit up to date audited accounts, to the office of the auditor general.

The report also called on the office of the accountant general, to ensure statutory allocation of 10% payment of revenue to all the 44 local government areas, according to the federal government’s new revenue formula.

Alhaji Salisu Ibrahim Muhammad said, the committee has observed that some agencies fail to submit their audited accounts within the stipulated period.

As such the report had recommended the refund of excess funds to the state ministry of finance from the date of the report adoption.

Lawmakers representing,Sumaila, Warawa, Garko, Kibiya and Rogo local government areas,Hamza Zubairu Massu,Labaran Abdul Madari ,Garba Shehu Fammar and Magaji Dahiru Zarewa, charged the committee to ensure that the excess funds are returned to the state treasury and properly utilized.

The house adjourned its sitting to Monday 21st march 2022.
