Atyap Association Threatens To Boycott Govt Led Peace Initiative

Atyap Community Development Association in Zangon Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State has threatened to pull out of any Government Led peace initiative considering the continuous killing of its members.

The President of the Association Comrade Samuel Achie stated this during a press briefing in Kaduna.

Comrade Samuel Achie expressed sadness over what he described as a calculated attempt by terrorists to displace them and take over their ancestral land.

The unfortunate thing is that at any time there is a peace meeting with either government officials, representatives of Fulani organizations or the NGOs to try and advance the peace process, the next will be an attack on the land by the terrorist militias, who subsequently vanish without any trace of their whereabouts, he said”

He called on the State Government and security operatives to step up and re-strategize its approach in the fight against banditry aimed at protecting lives and properties in the community and the state at large.

The President appealed to State Government to give equal treatment to its citizens regardless of tribe, religion or affiliations, saying those found to be breaking the law must be dealt with to serve as a deterrent.

Comrade Samuel Achie lamented the failure of government to resolve the lingering problem which had taken years and resources without commiserate result.

He also called on the Federal and state government to compensate and resettle those whose homes were burnt, farms restricted, lost loved ones and displaced in one form or the other to alleviate their suffering.

Comrade Samuel Achie, therefore, appealed to spirited individuals, well-wishers sons and daughters of the land to also assist those affected in any way especially in the recent killings experienced.
