FG Tasks Fire Service To Tackle Recurring Outbreaks

Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola has charged the newly appointed Acting Controller-General of the Federal Fire Service (FFS), DCG Karebo Samson, to embark on enlightenment and engagement of the public on preventive measures in curbing recurring fire outbreaks in the country.

The minister gave the charge during a presentation of the Acting DCG at the Ministry’s headquarters in Abuja.

Aregbesola further admonished him to develop the capacity to ensure large buildings housing many people have safety equipment such as fire alarms, sprinklers, and firefighters extinguishers as well as to establish more fire stations across the country.

He noted that Acting CGF, Mr Karebo Samson’s performance shall be measured by these priority areas and that the response time to distress calls be reduced to 7 minutes.

The Acting CG FFS, Karebo Samson assured the Minister of his readiness that he alongside his team of firemen would devise better methods of combatting fire through training and retraining.
