Special Envoy Visits PMB Over Mali Political Crisis

Nigeria has promised sustainable support and efforts at stabilising the political crisis in Mali.

President Buhari made the promise in Abuja, while received a Special Envoy from the Transitional President of Mali, Colonel Assimi Goita.

Buhari, however, explained that Nigeria’s promise to Mali would be redeemed within the requirements of ECOWAS.

He said nobody could love Mali more than Malians themselves, counselling that everyone should work within the tenets of ECOWAS to restore constitutional order to the country in the shortest possible time.

The President told the Envoy that every country had their peculiar issues, saying Nigeria once passed through a civil war before, emphasising the totality of the internal politics of each country may not be known.

Speaking, the Special Envoy and Mali’s Minister of Territorial Administration and Decentralization, Colonel Abdoulaye Maiga, led a team that briefed President Buhari on Conclusions from the National Conference on State-Rebuilding, held in Bamako in December 2021.
