Honour Views, Opinion Of Nigerians, Committee Urges President Buhari

Committee for GoodNess of Nigeria under the leadership of the former. President Olusegun Obasanjo has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to be more accessible to views and opinions of Nigerians,

This is part of the recommendation of the committee at the end of a two-day meeting in Abuja.

The Meeting took notes of the state of the nation, particularly the areas of stress among the elite and insecurity across the country thereby recommending measures in an attempt to show concern and help redress the country

Reading the recommendations on behalf of the Group, Ambassador Ahmed Magaji said All options in resolving the current security challenges should be examined by leaders.

He said the group observed that In any event, efforts must be intensified in securing Nigerians and turning back to the multiple threats increasingly affecting Nigerians by the day through the process of stick and carrot.

The Committee further advised that Elders, leaders and elite must play active roles in the escalating tensions, and building bridges between and among communities

The meeting however considered the reports of the Technical Committee on Inputs into on-going Constitutional reform processes, and adopted them

Similarly, it notes the need to accord constitutional reforms some urgency, and mobilize strong will, vision and action in the process, to address both contemporary national challenges and the future of a stable, political and prosperous Nigeria, Saying to fix Nigeria, a beginning must be made.

The committee are in full support of all efforts to improve the quality of the electoral process, and other processes for the emergence of quality leadership in Nigeria;

It says the Constitutional amendments currently being considered, should be concluded and implemented promptly, saying these amendments will have a major impact in terms of improving the atmosphere and context for the peaceful and credible conduct of the 2023 elections; and for peace, security, stability, equity, development, inclusive society, growth and progress

The Group comprises groups, Organisations and we’ll mean Nigerians explains that the communique will be forwarded to Mr President, the National Assembly, State Governors and State Houses of Assembly.
