Kano NUJ Advocates Registration At Birth

Nigerian Union of Journalist Kano State Chapter has called on parents to ensure registration of their wards at birth and also enroll them on National Identification as well as obtain voters card if eligible for them to exercise their franchise.

The Secretary of the NUJ state Council, Comrade Abba Murtala stated this while briefing journalist on the outcome of the Congress meeting held in Kano.

He said the congress had also called on households to adhere strictly to fire prevention measures especially in the ongoing harmattan season and always dress their children properly to avoid contracting cold related diseases.

The Council Secretary noted that the Union union had keenly observed shortage of portable water in parts of the metropolis, and called on the state Water Board to address the issue as well as ensure cleanliness of water where available.

Comrade Abba Murtala further stated that the Nigerian Union of Journalist in Kano appreciated government for construction of flyover and underpass bridges and called for the renovation of dilapidated road network in Kano metropolis.

He added that the congress called on the state government to look into the plight of the pensioners in the state and come to their aids by settling their outstanding benefits.
