Police has arrested Pastor Peter Taiwo of a Church in Abeokuta, Ogun state and his wife Elizabeth for allegedly conniving to defile a 16-year-old choir member of the church.
A statement by the state Command’s Spokesman, Mr Abimbola Oyeyemi in Abeokuta says the suspects are arrested after the victims has reported the incident at Adatan divisional headquarters.
Mr Oyeyemi said the victim told the policemen that she had gone to the church for choir practice when the pastor’s wife and her husband wanted to send her on errand.
He explained that the victim claimed that the pastor’s wife allegedly locked door and the pastor forcefully had sex with her.
The spokesman said the couple confessed to the crime, blaming the devil for the incident and pleaded for forgiveness from the victim.
According to him, the victim has been taken to hospital by the police for medical treatment.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Mr Lanre Bankole, has ordered the transfer of the suspects to Anti-Human Trafficking and Child Labour Unit of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation, and to charge them to court as soon as investigation was concluded.
