Reps Set To Tender The 2022 Budget Estimates

House of Representatives is to lay the report of the 2022 Appropriation bill considered by it’s various Standing Committees Tuesday next week.

Chairman, House Committee on Media and Public Affairs, Mr Benjamin Kalu, disclosed this during the weekly media briefing at the house of Representatives Press Centre Abuja.

, Mr Benjamin Kalu, who allayed the fears of many Nigerians, stressed that this year’s budget presentation would be done early enough to ensure the January-December calendar was not being messed up.

The house spokesperson also confirmed that Appropriation Committee was busy going through all the reports of the Committees to make sure the envelopes for Ministries, Agencies and Departments were in order with what had been provided for them.

On why the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON) and Nigerian Security Printing and Minting have refused to defend their 2022 budget proposals despite the Presidential directives and the provisions of the 1999 Constitution Mr Kalu, observed that the House would not hesitate to invoke extant powers as provided by the 1999 Construction in dealing with errand officials

He said President Mihammadu Buhari who is the head of the Executive was against such disposition because he left a standing order that all MDAs invited to make presentations on their budgets must attend.

The lawmaker emphasized that MDA’s found turning a blind eye on the house invitation was not only disobeying the instruction of the Chief Executive of the country but going against the piece of legislation that empowers the Parliament to invite them to do what was known to law.
