Insecurity: Deploy Effective Logistics In Schools- Reps Urges Ministry

House of Representatives has directed the Federal ministry of education to deploy effective technology and logistics for improved security in government schools.

This was sequel to adoption of a motion by a member from Oyo state, Mrs Taiwo Oluga, during the house plenary.

Mrs Taiwo Oluga, explained that the decision became imperative in view of the aggressive assault on education in Nigeria by Insurgents and Bandits that had developed a penchant for massive abduction of children.

According to the lawmaker, persistent attacks on academic Institutions had increased the number of out of school children in addition to the report by the United Nations International Children Fund UNICEF, that there are about 10.5 million out of school children in Nigeria.

She however, expressed disappoinment that despite the detariorating situation federal and states Ministries of education as well as private school owners had not taken steps to provide adequate security in schools across the country to prevent future attacks.

Adopting the motion, the house mandated it’s committee on Basic education and services to ensure compliance by private school owners across the country.
