NHGSFP : FG Distributes Utensils To Primary Schools in Kaduna

The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development Hajiya Sadiya Umar Faruk has handed over Feeding Utensils to Primary Schools under the National Home Grown School Feeding Programme NHGSFP in Kaduna State with over seven hundred thousand pupils expected to benefit.

Hajiya Sadiya Faruk while presenting the Utensils at the LGEA Sheikh Gumi Primary School Kaduna, said NHGSFP is one of the four key intervention Programmes of the federal government under it’s social investment Programme.

The Minister who was represented by the Deputy Director Legal at the ministry, Hajiya Maimuna Idris said the programme will boost school enrollment, nutrition and economic activities across communities in the country.

She said they have recorded over 9million pupils enrollment on the programme by federal government with employment of 10,000 cooks under the school feeding programme.

Hajiya Sadiya Umar Faruk also stated that, her Ministry has commenced updating its records to accommodate the scaling up of the programme with an additional 5 million benefiries as directed by President Mohammadu Buhari.

“We have deployed an extensive, layered and technology supported monitoring system that will gives us real time information of how the program is being implemented and the areas that need urgent intervention and correction”

She noted that, the program was designed to address poverty in all forms with the support of the State government to ensure full implementation of the excercise.

Sadiya Umar Faruk pointed out that, one of the several strategic plans of the Ministry was to ensure the target pupils have the best experience of hygiene and safety during consumption of the free meals.

The Minister maintained that, federal government is saddle with the responsibility for the release of funds, guidelines and policies for Implementation.

In a remark, Governor Nasiru El-rufai of kaduna state reiterated the state government support by ensuring success of the programme across the state.

Governor Elrufai represented by kaduna state focal person on National Home Grown School Feeding Programme, Mrs Saude Atoyebi said kaduna State was the first to launch the school feeding program before the federal Government in 2017 took over the responsibility.

“We have a total number of about 300,000 thousand feeding utensils earlier and now is the balance making it 700,000 thousand
