Arinze, Alleged Kidnapper Linked To Evans, Dies In Custody

A co-defendant with alleged billionaire kingpin, Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike, popularly known as Evans, Chiemeka Arinze, has died in prison custody.

The Nigeria Police Force believes Evans is one of the country’s wealthiest kidnapping kingpins, earning him the moniker “The Billionaire Kidnapper.”

He is believed to have made up to $1 million in some of his abductions.

Evans and his alleged gang, Joseph Emeka, Chiemeka Arinze, and Udeme Upong are facing a 7-count charge of murder, attempted murder, conspiracy to commit kidnapping, attempt to kidnap, and sale and transfer of firearms.

They are also being tried for the attempted kidnap of Chief Vincent Obianodo, the Chairman of the Young Shall Grow Motors, in an Ikeja Special Offences Court.

Arinze died on Friday, November 26, in a general hospital, where he was being treated for an unidentified illness, according to a state prosecutor.
