Our Budget Will Focus On Revenue Generation-Commissioner

Kano State Commissioner of Commerce and Industries, Barrister Ibrahim Mukhtar says the ministry’s 2022 proposed budget will focus attention on increased revenue generation and registration of all enterprises within the State.

Barrister Ibrahim Mukhtar made the disclosure while defending the ministry’s proposed 2022 budget before the Kano State House of Assembly.

The Commissioner pointed out that the challenges of inadequate revenue generation would become history due to the introduction of registration of all business enterprises within the State.

He noted that the increase in internally generated revenue would go a long way in boosting the economy and reducing unemployment.

Barrister Ibrahim Mukhtar reaffirmed the state government’s readiness in mapping out policies and programs aimed at uplifting the standard of commercial activities to global standard.

“We have discovered that many are not registered and the state government is not benefitting from them”.

Similarly, the Kano State Commissioner of Housing and Transport, Alhaji Mahmud Muhammad Santsi said the state government was committed to the provision of affordable housing and means of transportation to the populace.

He explained that, the 2022 proposed budget of over six billion naira would target establishment of housing estates in Bichi, Rano, Zawaciki and Ungoggo among others.

“The state government had approved the procurement of 100 BRT buses that would be shuttling from Janguza to Jogana to curtail transportation problems in the state”.

In their separate remarks, the Chairman House Standing Committee on Housing and Transport, Alhaji Mudassir Zawaciki and Chairman House Committee on Pension fund trustees, Alhaji Hayatu Musa Dorawar Sallau, said the agency’s under their Committee have defended their budgets after careful observations and scrutiny.

They urged the ministries to ensure implementation of their proposed budgets to move the State forward.

Ministries and agencies that had defended their budgets include, Kano State Consumer Protection Council, Kano State Transport Authority, Kano State Pensions Fund Trustees, Kantin kwari and Muhammadu Abubakar Rimi market board.
