Reps To Investigate Non-Implementation Of PYES Programme In Jigawa

House of Representatives is to Investigate the implementation of Presidential Youth Empowerment Scheme PYES programme in Jigawa State.

This is sequel to a motion by a member from Jigawa State Alhaji Muhammed Gudaji Kazaure, on the floor of the house adopted by the lawmakers.

Alhaji Muhammed Gudaji Kazaure, noted that President Muhammadu Buhari launched the Empowerment Scheme in October last year with the sole aim of creating opportunities to 774,000 youth to reduce unemployment among the local populace.

He said the Scheme was designed to allow literate, semi-literate and non-literate population to learn and improve thier capacity but since inauguration the Scheme is yet to be implemented in Jigawa State despite thousands of applications by the
Nigerian youth.

Mover of the motion also called on the house to invite Co-coordinator of the Scheme and Senior Special Assistant to the President on Youth and
Students Affairs to explain to Nigerians, reasons for the non-implementation of the Scheme despite the Presidential directives.

Alhaji Gudaji Kazaure, however appealed to the house to mandate it’s Committee on Appropriation to capture the scheme in the 2022 budget estimates to ensure the set goals were achieved.

At a plenary presided over by the house Deputy Speaker Alhaji Ahmad Idris Wase, the house has referred the matter to it’s Committee on Youth and sport to investigate the issue and report back to in two weeks time.
