FUD Strengthens Security Apparatus, Recruits Hunters

The Federal University Dutse says it has approved the hiring of over 50 hunters to assist the security division in patrolling the campus at night.

The Vice Chancellor, Professor Abdulkareem Sabo Mohammed disclosed this to Radio Nigeria in Dutse, jigawa state capital.

He explained that the hiring of 55 hunters from the Jigawa branch of the Nigerian Hunters Council will assist the security division in patrolling the campus at night.

According to him, the Chief Security Officer, Colonel Abubakar Sidique(Rtd) brought the idea, adding that, the management bought into it because of the complex security problems facing the country.

Professor Sabo said that the hunters in conjunction with FUD security and the Nigeria Police conduct daily joint patrol of the campus at night while also complementing their security in other areas.

The VC said the university need the services of the hunters because of their  knowledge of the community and their ruggedness.

He said the hunters had undergone 3 weeks training by the University security division before deploying them to the field.

Professor Abdulkareem Sabo said those who display exceptional skills and commitment among them would be rewarded.

He therefore called on staff and students to cooperate with the security division.
