11 Communities Displaced By Flood In Jigawa

At least eleven communities have been displaced by raging floods in Ringim Local Government area of Jigawa state.

The local government chairman, Shehu Sule Udi disclosed this in an interview with newsmen in Ringim IDP camp.

According to him, the communities were ravaged and displaced by perennial flood killing many people, destroyed hundreds of houses, farmlands and other properties as a result of overflow of Tiga dam.

He explained that the flood had ravaged communities of Dabi, Majiyawa, Dingare, gabarin, yandutse and malamawar yandutse.

Others also include Cori, Gujaba, Sankara, Auramo and Garin Gada among others.

Shehu Sule Udi said the local government had evacuated the victims and relocated them to Internally Displaced Persons Camps in Ringim and Gerawa.

He said the local Government had also provided them with food, good drinking water and medication.

The council chairman however urged state and federal governments and other individuals as a matter of urgency to come to the rescue of the affected victims.
